花磚對我而言，它是一個
陪伴我青春的一個，美麗的文化
它是鑲在台灣建築上面一個畫龍點睛的一個美麗的元素
從來就不是建築的主體，它其實不太會受到矚目
但是它在我心目中，它永遠是最漂亮
然後千變萬化，最美的一塊
保存花磚的過程中，其實是拆解這棟建築的人是我
所以那是一個很心痛的感覺，就是
你很喜歡它，但是你得拆解它
那拆解完之後，又是一個很心痛的開始，就是
當你拆解完之後你坐在路邊，你會發現
沒有人知道這邊發生了甚麼事情
也沒有人知道台灣到底失去了什麼東西，
所以在這種日復一日的循環裡面
我覺得最痛苦的還是心情上的感受
我們花了二十年去保存，其實保存了很多花磚
但是，終究有一天這項文化會消失
因為，大家不會引起它的關注，
就僅此於來博物館看這項文化
那時候我們內部在想說，如果花磚它要延續下去的話
它必須在我們這個年代裡面，
長出我們這個年代自己的花磚文化，
那它就會長出更多的東西
大家就會去關注我們這一代的花磚文化
然後進而去保護，我們上一代一百年前的花磚文化
所以我們現在花磚博物館在未來的十年力拼的目標
就是跟台灣的很多業者、很多的匠師
開始去一起努力去創造我們這個世代的花磚文化
我是徐嘉彬，是台灣花磚博物館的館長
那這本是我寫的重返花磚時光
我希望各位可以藉由這本書，
重新看到一百年前台灣花磚的美麗
知道他的所有的意涵，然後再藉由這本書
知道我們在這個時代，怎麼去創造出屬於台灣的花磚文化

A beautiful culture that accompanies my youth
It is an exquisite element which infuses the finishing touch
on Taiwanese architecture
It has never been the main body of the building
so it is actually not in the spotlight
But in my mind, it will always be the most beautiful,
Ever-changing, and the most aesthetic piece
In the process of preserving the tiles,
it was actually me who dismantled this building
So it is a very heartbreaking feeling when
You really like something but you have to dismantle it
After the dismantling, it was another heartbreak when you’re done
you sit on the side of the road and find out
nobody knows what happened here,
And nobody knows what Taiwan has lost
Thus, in this day-to-day cycle
I think the most painful thing is what you feel
Spending twenty years to preserve,
We actually preserved a lot of tiles
However, this culture will disappear one day
Because people won’t pay attention to it
They just come to the museum to see the tiles
At that time, we started to think that if we want the tiles to be passed down
We must develop a new tile culture that belongs to our generation
So that it can develop more things
People will start to pay attention to the tile culture of our generation
Then they can also protect the tile culture from our previous generation passed down a hundred years ago
Therefore, the goal of the Museum of Old Taiwan Tiles in the next ten years
Is to work together with many Taiwanese companies and craftsmen,
To create the tile culture of our generation
I’m Xu Jiabin, the curator of the Museum of Old Taiwan Tiles
